Jake Volk

University of Northern Iowa

Jake is a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). He's finishing his MA in English with an emphasis in book history and a Certificate in Literary Publishing. Jake is the first graduate student to receive the Languages & Literatures English Fellowship at UNI. As the Fellow, Jake worked as the Assistant Editor of the North American Review from August 2022 through December 2023.


Currently, he is an Instructor teaching College Writing & Research. In this final semester at UNI, Jake is researching and writing about the Wadle Paperback Collection in Rod Library. After completing this MA, Jake and his fiancé will attend the University of Iowa to each earn an MA in Library and Information Science. In additional to being accepted into the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS), Jake has received a full-tuition Graduate Assistantship in SLIS. He lives in Cedar Falls with his fiancé and their three cats: Gaia, Orpheus, and Stella. They will be moving to Iowa City in July 2024.
